Connected Fitness Shows That Social Networks Aren’t Going Anywhere

Social networks aren’t about Web sites. They’re about experiences.

It is almost certain that when the phrase “social network”, or “social media”, is used people’s minds invariably think of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter et al. In truth, social networks are much, much more ingrained in our Web 3.0 experience. Even traditional news media websites encourage the fostering of social networks of a sort, by having registered users creating profiles and commenting on stories and opinion pieces one sees that over time a community is born, almost organically, by the user base – people who regularly comment get “known” by others, and conversations (and in some cases full-blown arguments) between users flow as naturally as those across the tables in dinner parties from the 1980s, just in their virtual setting.

Toxicity

Let me be the first to say that I’ve also been that toxic person. Calling myself out on my own toxicity is what aids me in spotting it in others. Healing my toxicity is what helped me understand myself. Now, I invite and embrace peace & good vibes only.

It’s Time

The inequalities in our community now reflect not so much gross disparities in income, but the failure of successive Liberal governments to create opportunities for the overwhelming majority of our people—the lower, modest and middle income families—opportunities which only governments can make. And increasingly in Australia the national government must initiate those opportunities.

Gough’s sentiment is as relevant today as it was on October 1, 1969. That is a sad indictment of the state of Australian politics in 2022. After eight years of conservative governments, once again it is time for a dramatic shift in Australian politics.
